Put Yourself at the Top of your To-Do List

There are so many things going on in the day, it can be hard to take time to take care of yourself. I know, I am guilty of this too. I will put off self-care in order to get more accomplished. The problem is that sometimes I put it off so much, I’ll forget to do it entirely for a while.
I need to regularly take time to educate myself about type 2 diabetes, exercise, plan my diet, review my treatment regimen and get support among other things. As a mother of a 10-year-old son with special needs, my days are full. It’s too tempting to tell myself I’ll do self-care tomorrow.
I was recently reading my Facebook feed and saw two status updates that reminded me that I need to make myself a higher priority and wanted to share them with you.
The first one was an Anthony J. D’Angelo quote, “The greatest gift that you can give yourself is a little bit of your own attention.”
In today’s world, doctors are rushed and it’s hard for them to provide all the information and attention you need. Most doctors are not going to follow up on you if you miss appointments. Make yourself number one. As a person with type 2 diabetes, it is important to get proactive in your self-care, treatment, and education. Dedicating a little time to yourself
