Hypoglycemia or low blood sugar is not often thought to be a worry for people with type 2 diabetes.  However, many of us inject insulin or take oral medications that put us at risk for blood sugar lows. Certain conditions can increase risk as well.

The fact that we can be at risk for lows was brought home to me not too long ago.  About 10 years ago, I had to take insulin during pregnancy with preexisting type 2 diabetes.  I had frequent lows and once required a week-long hospital stay after I developed a stomach flu.  Now, after almost 20 years from my initial diagnosis, I find that oral medications have lost their effectiveness and I need to inject insulin once again.
