Introductory Blog – I’m Allie!

My name is Allie Beatty. You may know me from AOL’s “The Diabetes Blog” or my YouTube videos. I share my thoughts on diabetes with an audience. It’s nice to meet people you know are listening! Feel free to send me an email.

I was diagnosed with type I diabetes when I was 7 years old. I was the kind of kid who questioned everything. I liked to see how things worked. This proved to be very difficult when it came to diabetes. It took me the greater part of 20 years to realize that diabetes is hard to explain. It’s not the kind of thing you can fix by simply taking it apart and putting it back together.

After two-decades of relentless defeat trying to see how diabetes worked – it became evident to me that diabetes is not a simple machine like a pulley or a lever. Like I said before – diabetes is hard to explain. This is the reason I began to interact with people who live with diabetes. The more information I have to learn from the better I could understand diabetes.

Throughout the years I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with people from all corners of the world. The last 5 years in diabetes developments have been more productive than the previous fifty years. It is my hope that diabetes understanding in the near future proves to be more triumphant for us all

I look forward to being a part of the Diabetes Daily community!
